I told Grace that we were going to go and see Keren and she was super excited. I missed the first few seconds when she said, "I'm so excited to see Keren!" which was then followed by the "Keren! Keren!" dance.

Apology accepted

Grace was using the toilet and called me when she was done. After we were done wiping she says to me, "Sorry for the stinky poo dad." Apology accepted my angel.

Happy Women’s Day!

I’m guessing that they spoke about Women’s Day at school yesterday, because today Grace was running around shouting, “Happy Women’s Day! Happy Women’s Day!”

The bump!

Squeeze!

Grace has picked up a new habit at swimming. Once she is done, she whips off her swimming costume pants walks to the pool and squeezes the water out of them. Once her top is off, then it gets a squeeze too. And this week she is still enjoying her swimming partner.

When I collected her for swimming Kim (one of the teachers) told me that she was trying to climb up the jungle gym to get to the other children, which means she is gradually venturing out more and more.

An unexpected fly-by

I was sitting at my desk talking to a colleague on the phone and I see something outside drifting past my window. Looks like a balloon, but I didn't see Donné and Grace outside and it was a bit windy to play with balloons outside. Hmmm, a rather longish balloon with a particular pointy bit on the end. That's when I had to stop the conversation due to my laughter and explain to my colleague that a condom balloon had just floated past my door. Not too sure where it came from, but definitely unexpected. A minute or two later there was more laughter as it popped and sent a cat flying in fear.

Grace has started talking about children at school that she likes, "Hannah, Emma, Christina, and someone with a very tricky name." I wasn't too sure who she meant and later it came out that she was talking about Willow….those L's in the middle…

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to our wonderful hubby and daddy, we love you lots and look forward to sharing many more birthdays with you.

Grace giving Duncan a big birthday hug – "Happy Birthday dear daddy"

I went for my 31 week scan today, our little boy is growing well and weighs about 1700grams.  Grace asked that since she couldn't come with to the scan she wanted to see some "pictures" – 3 to be specific.  As soon as we got home from school she looked at the scan pictures, one was of his hand, the other his leg and foot and the third his face.  After she looked at them she turns to me and says "Where is a picture of his willy?" 🙂

That’s a good idea

Grace really wanted to wear her Daisy & Minnie short sleeve shirt this morning, which we were against. After unsuccessfully trying to get her to choose an alternative I said to her, "Grace, go and get a white top to wear under that." She comes back with her top, "That was a good idea!"

Grace was lying next to Donné on the bed and turns towards her, "You're beautiful."

Say cheese!

We're busy building some shelves for Grace's room and she was helping me to drill and screw the pieces together. I was struggling to get all the pieces to align nicely before drilling and it was taking some time so she says to me, "Taking too long daddy, want to drill."

I was swinging Grace and she starts kicking her legs and saying, "Feel so happy!" So I decided to start singing, "If you're happy and you know it kick your legs…" First verse was fine, but then I went onto, "If you're happy and you know it nod your head…" Grace looks at me and says, "Please turn off the music."

So sleepy

Last week Grace was saying, "Not feel well," quite a bit. We know that it can mean a number of things, from hungry, to tired, to anxious, to actually not feeling well. Often she will also add that she has a sore tummy.

This week it has morphed into a new say, "So sleepy," which is accompanied by, "I feel tired." Grace has never really been one who is big into sleeping, and she still stays awake through her rest time, but there are now two times of day that she clearly does feel a bit sleepy – in the morning and at the end of the day.

This week it feels like the wheels have been coming off for her at the end of the day. She will be happy and bouncing and enjoying her bath, and then suddenly, "I feel tired, so sleepy," and then it is time to get her to bed as fast as possible.

We think it is just school and the adjustment which is putting her brain into overdrive, so she is getting to bed a bit earlier at the moment. What is good to see is that she can now verbalise how she is feeling just a little bit more.
