Allsorts of 2012

We arrived safely home today after a quiet, relaxed and uneventful journey home. With both the children and adults tired out after a trip starting at 01h00 there is one final story before we sign off for the year…

Yesterday Donné had just given Grace some liquorice allsorts and a few seconds later she started moaning about something (can't recall what). Donné said to her, "If you don't stop moaning I'm going to take those away from you." Grace only took a microsecond to evaluate her options and shoved the entire handful into her mouth before there was any chance of them being taken…at which point we fell apart laughing.

May your year ahead be filled with allsorts of fun, surprises, beauty and laughter.

Have a blessed and safe New Year's Eve, so long 2012 and thanks for all the fish.

Eli’s first laugh

Eli laughed for the first time today! Donné was zerbitting him and a he gave a few little giggles. He gives a short laugh at the start of this video,

And more water fun on the replacement slip-n-slide after the first one had a hole in it out of the box. Now we can race!

The dogs tea party: Grace gathered all the toys, made sure everyone had something to nibble and had a tea party (she had recently returned from the lagoon and polished off two cups of her own tea).

What was so funny about watching this was how Gogo's head would lift up whenever Grace spoke to her, but after a second or two of silence her head would slowly nod further and further down.

Christmas Day

Grace was blessed to have three Christmas' in one day. She also got to open all of Eli's presents, as well as anyone's who was willing to let her…

Ooooh, what is it?

Grace and Eli (and ourselves) where royally spoiled by everyone, and we had a wonderful day with our families. It is a blessing to have families that love us so much and who we love.

‘Twas the night before Christmas…

…and all through the house, nothing was moving except for a Mom.

She got up to feed and heard something jingle
And when she looked out the window there was Chris Pringle
His reindeer and sleigh were stuck up a tree
While he sat and put a plaster on his knee

He slid down the tree and took out his pick
And jimmied the door with a special kind of trick
He snuck through the door and under the tree
He left a small present for you and for me

Out the door and back up to the sleigh
And as he broke free she did hear him say
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good day!"

Have a blessed Christmas, full of love, sharing and kindness. May the truly important things be at the forefront of your mind.

Lots of love from the D's

PS. One small note from the day that made me laugh: Grace fell asleep in the car today on the way back from breakfast (a miracle before Christmas), and when I took her out of the car and put her into bed she woke briefly and said, "Why do I have to sleep?!? Why do I have to rest?!?" and then fell back asleep and had a two hour nap.

Visit to the Clemence’s

You might notice a trend in how we're spending our holiday…

Grace attached herself to Robyn after she settled in and had loads of fun swimming, colouring, playing outside, picking flowers, etc. etc.

Holiday pool fun

If Grace could swim all day I think she would. If the sun wouldn't burn us all to a crisp, then we would.

Eli had his first swim today.
