Sore

Grace managed to somehow get a little cut on the bottom of her foot yesterday. Nothing serious if you look at it (just a little more than a scratch), but something very serious for Grace. There have been lots of tears around this little cut. A plaster seemed to help a small bit yesterday, but Grace practically refused to walk on that foot. Fortunately putting shoes on her seemed to help her get over it for a while. Today she seemed mostly fine, but required a token plaster to keep the cut out of sight and out of mind. Getting into the bath has been loads of fun.

Whenever she becomes aware of it she says, "Sore, sore!" which presents us with a new opportunity to learn patience. It is really tricky knowing the boundaries of what is genuinely sore and what is just heightened perception of the wound. Like so many other things, parental discernment is required.

Grace took Jack's scooter for a spin over the weekend. It was the first time she has tried to ride a scooter. She was fiddling around with it, so I showed her where to stand and how to push and off she went. She got it a lot faster than I expected….but then lost is again soon afterwards. She really enjoyed figuring out the little scooter.
