Climbing & kicking

We spent some time at the Bradshaw’s this afternoon and I enjoyed Grace’s playing. The first thing that surprised me was how well she can climb one of the trees in their garden. The tree is lovely for children to climb in, because it has lots of branches at the right height. I have seen Grace climbing in before, but today she climbed up to the top (about wall height) and back down again all on her own. She seems to really be enjoying climbing. When we went camping there were some rocks at the top of a hill which she really loved climbing and clambering on.
The other thing that surprised me was her enjoyment kicking a soccer ball. So far she has shown relatively little interest in kicking a ball around, but we played together for a while kicking the ball back and forth. It seems that the “Dora saves the game” episode has had an impact, with Grace saying, “Dora saves the game,” and, “Super-kick,” while playing. I really enjoyed kicking the ball with her, it was fun. Grace was happy as long as it was just her and I. if someone else joined in then Grace squealed and lay on top of the ball….ah well…..I love the little noodle so much.
