Avoiding sleep

Grace has started to develop more and more tactics to avoid going to sleep, both during the day and the evening. Mostly she asks to go to the toilet, have something to drink, or have something to eat, so we try to make sure that we have eliminated those options before we even start trying to put her to sleep. She was taking some time to go to sleep after Donné put her down for her afternoon nap today, and I went to check on her. Our discussion went something like this:

Duncan (in stern daddy voice): "Grace, it's sleep time, what is the problem? Is there something you need?"
Grace: "Wee"
Duncan (slightly grumpy daddy voice): "Grace, you have already made a wee, it is time to go to sleep."
Grace (with a little sly smile): "Poo!"
At which point I break down and can't stop myself from laughing: "Grace, you are being naughty."
Grace: "Ja"
And off to the loo we went.

I woke up this morning to Grace talking – not moaning or calling, "Dada, dada," as she usually would. As I got up and walked towards her room it became clear what she was saying, "More, more, more, more…" – I guess she enjoyed her party yesterday and wanted more đŸ™‚

Grace is getting so used to getting presents that when she realised there were no new presents for her today, she decided to wrap herself.
