The tall tower
Grace, Eli and I were in the playroom and while I was busy playing with Grace in the hammock Eli got stuck into some Lego building, trying to build the tallest tower that he possibly could. He was doing pretty well, and even though it kept breaking apart as it got taller, he kept on putting it back together and trying again. He eventually decided that building his tower in a long straight line was a better idea, and he kept on going, getting about half way across the playroom. Grace then got involved and they gathered all the square blocks to make sure they had the tallest tower.
While they were building I stepped out to get supper started and said to Grace, “Call me when you’re done I want to take a photo.”
A little bit of time passes and then things start going south upstairs, with Grace desperately moaning at Eli to stop breaking it because, “Dad wants to take a photo…I want to take a photo!” I rushed up quickly with my camera, and Eli was now building another tower with other blocks, as well as some from the tall tower. He had moved on when they had finished all the blocks, but Grace was fighting to have it all in place for the photo. I said to Eli, “Eli, can we please just put these few blocks onto the tower quickly so that we can take a photo?” He seemed okay and I took off the bit we needed and put it back on the “tower.” This was all fine for about as long as it took to compose the photo…..
Shortly after this he was happily building away and breaking the tower again. The “tower” went across most of the playroom.
