First Spur visit

Grace and Eli had their first visit to the Spur today, with Granny, Grandpa and Aunty Keren. Face painting, playing in the play area and ice cream with sprinkles were the highlights for them.

First Spur ice cream….not a Chico (they’ve changed), but being able to sprinkle is a joy for Grace

Recovery day

After a few full-on days, today was a bit slower, and a bit of a recovery day for the children….and adults.

Travelling quartet

We’ve arrived safely in Jeffrey’s Bay for a long awaited holiday. Thank you Lord for a safe and uneventful trip.

Well, I guess Eli vomitting in the Wimpy may classify as an event, but fortunately not a serious one.

One wedding, a birthday and an anniversary

Today was our 12 year anniversary. 12 beautiful years of being together, and 12 wonderful years of growth and love.

We decided to postpone our celebrations because we were out last night to celebrate a new marriage, and getting ready for our holiday today.

We celebrated Geoff and Chantal’s wedding yesterday, which was a big celebration because they have had a long journey together to get to this point. For us, our long journey was to get Eli weaned at night and going to sleep (mostly) on his own…which meant that we could go and party while Keren looked after the kiddiwinkles.

I loved Geoff and Chantal’s joy and the excitement of everyone at the wedding. It was a amazing wedding.

The food was really good. Delicious canapes (including yummy crispy duck with tortilla chips), with all the courses being well rounded and prepared.

Bruiser

Eli had a rough day today. He first got a whack to the middle of his forhead when Grace opened the play room door (which he had closed) with him standing right behind it. He then did something (not quite sure what), and he was standing on the when jumping off the couch and bashed his cheek. After that he slipped on the step of the pool and bashed his nose leaving a scrape.

Oh well, lets finish up for today and hope that tomorrow is a better day.

Helping out

We are going to a wedding tomorrow evening and Keren will be baby sitting for us. Eli has been very mommy needy, and we have been preparing by talking to him about what is going to happen.

At bed time tonight Grace says to me, “Tomorrow, if Eli is crying because he wants mommy, I’ll just tell Keren, ‘Turn on the TV and let him watch woofs…and give him a sweetie.'”

And she carries on, “And if he wakes up in the middle of the night, I’ll wake up and tell Keren, ‘Just pick him up, give him a cuddle and take him to your bed, and when mommy and daddy come then put him in their bed.'”
