3 like a B

Eli has been working on his number recognition at school, and even though they could see he understood the numbers through other work, getting him to recognise and name them was being a challenge, with him getting stuck at 3. One of his teachers said to him, “Look Eli, if you turn it over it looks like a B, three like a B.” He then starts again at one, “1…2…like a B!”

We actually took him for an assessment with the speech therapist to make sure there were no working memory or other issues, but according to her everything is perfectly fine, he just has word finding trouble which children typically grow out of. With that understanding in hand and a few guidelines from the speech therapist we’ve been helping him find the words and now he is getting very excited about his numbers, looking for them everywhere.

There is a 3 on the sail of one of the bath toy boats, and he picked it up and excitedly said, “3 like a B sail!”

Smile, chew, crazy

I love these two little guys

Bits ‘n bobs

Eli is feeling like things get in his way, well, the thing that gets in his way the most is probably his sister…

We may have two gardeners in the family

The little guy got so much delight from the piano. It is not in this video, but he was playing and dancing to his own music.

The Barbie Bomb

We’ll never really know what happened, but whatever the explosion was, it took out Barbie, the flying horse, a mermaid and Adam.

Waiting for the fairies

Maya, Grace & Eli gathered together all sorts of bits and pieces from the garden and made a beautiful fairy garden. Once the fairy garden was complete, it was time to wait for the fairies. Grace was surprised to find some of the berries gone when she opened her eyes, but I’m pretty sure there was some slight of hand on Maya’s part…

Bike skills – level up

Eli just levelled up his bike skills – now he can get started on his on, and in his words, “Now I can ride my big bike whenever I want to! YAY!”

Water boys

Adam has been looking for whatever water he can find to splash and play, so with some beautiful weather today it was time for a bit of water fun with the rest of the boys.

Down by the river

We went for a ride in Radloff Park to practice Eli’s ever expanding bicycle skills. As we start off on our way he stopped and fell over in a patch of long grass, entirely disappearing as he went down – which was very funny to watch from behind. He looked something like this when we got it him, just with bike on top of his feet.

Camping out

After getting a super good deal on a tent, we needed to set it up in preparation for Grace’s class camp, and test it out with a garden camp out.

I have been super impressed with how they have taken this on as their own, run with it, worked hard, developed and changed, and turned it into a successful event independently and with minimal adult input. I am really proud of these girls.
