Don’t go rubbish truck!
Our morning routine didn’t follow the normal path with today being a public holiday, and even though it is a public holiday the rubbish truck still comes to collect. So our bin was not out and along comes the rubbish truck. I burst into action, but the problem with where our rubbish bin is kept is that if the car is parked too close to the wall then we have to move the car to get the bin out. And that is obviously the case. I rush back in to get the car keys and Grace is standing at the window looking at the rubbish truck, tears streaming down her face, crying, “Don’t go! Please don’t leave! It’s leaving!” distraught at the idea that they might leave without emptying our bin.
Fortunately I was able to pull the car out, manoeuvre past the car and run to the end of the road to line our bin up to be emptied. If I hadn’t, who knows how long it would have taken to console our sensitive, precious little girl, who for some reason is having a particularly sensitive time at the moment (it’s not like this is the first time we’ve forgotten about the rubbish bin).
And the rest of our day was a beautiful, relaxed, and fun public holiday in the sun.
