Grace knows that there are 7 billion people in the world and when Adam was born she said, “Now there are seven billion and one people!”

I was telling Donné that there was an accident in town today and a motorcyclist had been killed, and Grace (being her ever pragmatic self) pipes up, “Now we just go back to 7 billion people.”

We finally got to meet cute little Matthias Thiel today! He was due to be born within days of Adam, but is already 8 weeks old after an early appearance.

This would be Adam’s first official play date

Some baby grows have been a part of all three of our children’s lives

Adam will be three weeks old tomorrow, and went for his first vaccinations today. Life is still in flux, so here is a bit of a summary of where we are:

• Adam weighs 4.82kg – he is growing nicely
• Adam is having sleep/feed cycles around about 3 hours long
• Eli seems to be taking some strain and is a bit of a train wreck at the moment
• Grace is borderline – she seems mostly okay with things, possibly needing some extra input
• Donné has been feeling quite emotional – there is lots going on and lack of sleep doesnt’ help
• I’m scrambling to try to support my family as best I can, as well as look after my business and clients

Things are pretty much as one would expect when you add a baby and sleepless nights to the family – it is, what it is, and I think that overall we’re doing pretty well.

We were all sitting around the table having dinner and Grace says, “You know, the thing about babies…is that you never know when they are going to poop.” And there you have it, that is the thing about babies (well, at least one of them) – parenting insights from our 6 year old.
