Good Friday and the crumpets

Reading Jesus’ story together

Yummy breakfast crumpets

Yay!

It’s holidays…yay!

Marius & Jean

We got to spend the weekend enjoying Marius & Jean’s wedding – braais, breakfasts, wedding, and hanging out together.

Marius & Jean shared some beautiful, heartfelt and deeply personal vows

Addy enjoyed participating in boules (party to turn on the sprinkler and wet everyone playing, and partly to carry the balls around and pack them away)

It was a lovely wedding to attend and one that seemed just right for Marius. Jean & Marius, may you have a blessed marriage and share many, many years together.

Hikes, canoes and candy cones

A morning hike, an afternoon swim and canoe, and the start of the wedding weekend celebrations…

Grace really surprised me with how quickly she got going in the canoe today. At one point I did have to give her some directions (left, left, right, left), but she twigged the whole thing relatively quickly.

A short hike in the morning

Delicious delectables – fill a sugar cone with chocolate, marshmallows and a strawberry, melt and the braai and enjoy

Mountain time

We’ve been blessed with a weekend in the Cederberg mountains to celebrate Marius’ wedding, so we arrived a day early for some family downtime. We’re at Jamaka organic farm which is rather beautiful and has an amazing camping area (but we’re staying in a chalet).

Catching a dip in the rather chilly, but beautiful river pool

Exploring and clambering

Our mini holiday view

Sippora, the horse and the tractor

Eli and Grace were definitely excited about the pony that was going to be at Sippora’s party today, so there were plenty of questions about when exactly it was going to come.

Poor Eli had to wait until all the girls had gone, and he desperately wanted a turn. When it did come around, he thoroughly enjoyed it

Grace had a early turn, but while she was riding  the pony stepped on Caden’s foot which left her a bit nervy. She did go back and have a compete ride a bit later.

Shortly after the pony was done the next question on their lips was, “When is the tractor coming?”

Everyone bundled up into the tractor trailer

We all had a lovely time celebrating, hanging out and getting to know some new people.

Down hill train

Addy was discovering some train joy with some down hill train runs

HCBs and balloon punches

We decided to try our hand at making some hot cross buns, and they turned out pretty well. Grace seems to entirely love them…

Pre-baking yumminess

We used Jamie Oliver’s recipe (with some small modifications due to the spices on hand). I think I would add more spice if we try this again.

After Yann’s party we had been introduced to punch balloons, so just because we can…

Yann’s birthday

We had the privilege of joining some new friends and old, to celebrate Yann’s birthday.

We had a great time hanging out, throwing Frisbee, and relaxing while the kids had fun playing.

When you’re ahead stay a head…

The chair monkey

Adam was going round and round, just repeating this over and over again – our little chair monkey.
