Aquarium day
The aquarium is always a happy space and all the children enjoy it in different ways. Grace has been so many times now that she is practically a tour guide and spouts all sorts of interesting information as you go along.
Today I learnt that the clown fish think the dome is their anemone (which is why the rub against it) and Grace learnt that male seahorses give birth to the babies.

Camicazi
On Monday the school celebrated World Book Day, and the children dressed up as their favourite characters. Grace decided to go as Camicazi from How to Train Your Dragon. The preschool did not dress up but Eli desperately wanted to go as Hiccup.

Koggelbaai
We spent a lovely day at Koggelbaai eating delicious fish and chips, exploring caves, searching through creatures in the tidal zone, building sand castles, swimming, eating eclairs, and having fun with the MacRoberts.

Then we ended it off with supper, coffee and Monopoly Deal. A lovely end to a great day.
Peacefulness
We have the privilege of living in this amazing, beautiful city, full of parks and bicycle tracks and little hidden places that we get to explore.
There is a peaceful spot next to the Lourens river which has a beautiful climbing tree and a bench next to a quiet spot on the river. It is very popular with children and families.
When we sat there yesterday, Donné and I peacefully on the bench while the children climbed, I was still aware of all the pressing things in our lives – like business and finances and worrying about our three beautiful crazies – but the peacefulness seemed to give perspective to it all. Yes, the pressing matters of life are there, but they are not all that there is, they should not consume us.
There is peace that surrounds us and a God who loves us, and a world full of secret quiet places to remind ourselves to embrace the fullness of life – whether that is in the burn of our legs on a mountain bike ride or the warmth of loving arms wrapped around us.
We are our love, and our pain, and the joy we find in the world around us.

It’s been a while since we made it all the way to the climbing tree (it really is quite close) and the children were happy to see it again
Raw chicken
So it turns out Adam does love raw chicken. There were some chicken sausages that had defrosted in the sink and while Donné was otherwise occupied Adam took them out of the sink and ate some raw sausage. Fortunately he seems fine with no noticeable effects.
I went and explained to him that eating raw chicken can make him sick and it is dangerous. He says, “Oh.”

Easter hunt
I’ve decide that Easter is Grace’s favourite holiday. Christmas is definitely Eli’s, but Grace’s excitement levels go off the charts for the Easter egg hunt.
There is the just woken up and there are eggs in the playroom hunt, then the official family hunt, and usually a hunt with friends hunt.
This year we celebrated with the Fredericks and enjoyed a bagel brunch and a peaceful day together.
