Grace and Eli decided to try and have a chat on their foot phones…

Eli recently learnt that if he is naked and running around the garden, that can can go and make a wee in the bush if he needs to.
This has had one major impact: He has stopped saying, “Poo!” when he needs to go to the toilet, and now he says, “Bush!”
Grace was wearing different clothes when Donné fetched her from school today, which was surprising seen as there were school photos and they had specifically asked everyone to wear blue/red/white or a combination of those. Grace’s teacher said that after the class photo she turned around and Grace was sitting on the ground and, “there were just plumes of dust,” as she rubbed her legs on the ground and threw sand up in the air around her.
She was wearing white pants
Donné was..um…to put it mildly…unimpressed, and one of the consequences was that she had to wash her own clothes. So she was given a bar of soap and bucket of water and sent down to the river to beat her clothes with a rock.
Washing clothes (not really down at the river)
This was hard work for Grace, because Donné supervised to make sure that she was putting enough shoulder grease into it and she expected Grace to do a decent job of it.
At the end of the day Grace says to me, “I’m going to have a dust bath at school tomorrow, so I can get gooder (sic).” I’m a bit confused, so I ask her, “Grace, what do you want to get better at?” She replies, “I need to get better at washing my clothes.” Oh, no…backfire!
Eli has (very sweetly) started counting to 5 with Donné. His speech, much like Grace’s, is a bit behind, but he’ll catch up.
We’ve all been enjoying having a pool, even if the water is still quite cold (like it was last week). Eli and Grace have only ever known heated pools (at swimming instructors and the gym), so it is hard work for their bodies (and minds) to adjust to the cold.
Kicking away to stay warm
Karen gave Grace a lilo for her birthday, and she is finally getting to enjoy it. It also gives her the chance to be in the pool without actually having to be in the pool
My boat is fun!
Even Donné made it into the water today
Swimming as fast as she can in a circle to get out of the cold water as quickly as possible
It’s just a little bit too cold dad!
Eli loves tools, just about any tools, but I think his favourite are the drill (he makes a drilling sound whenever he sees it), and anything that you can hammer and bash with (which is actually quite a wide range). Screwsdrivers also feature fairly high – they can be used for “opening” locks and threatening sisters.
Zoot, zoot goes the drill
Eli likes to copy Grace, sometimes to his own detriment (or to hers), but fortunately it is mostly just cute.
Let’s try eating my food just like my big sister
The sandpit is up and running again, and for the last few days Grace and Eli have spent most of their outside time in the sand pit
Grace still loves her monkey….deeply and dearly. Grace has been diagnosed with allergy induced ashtma (which causes her to have a persistent cry cough), and as a result we needed to clean her bedding as well as any soft toys. Grace – being so calm and collected about it – collapses on the ground crying. Then, with the washing machine on, she sat watching the washing TV show, with Monkey going around and around…. Unfortunately Grace just sat and cried for quite a while.
Watching some washing TF
Once she moved on she was okay, and luckily we now have a clean monkey again.
